nothing is more alluring than the siren song of a roller skating broadway musical.  prior to checking out xanadu at the paramount, we decided to hit up my first speakeasy in seattle, tavern law; my only other speakeasy experience being please don’t tell in new york’s east village: an elite house of mixology and luxe oak decore (despite the 2am reservation).  unfortunately, the speakeasy at tavern law didn’t open in time for us to make the show, but we did get a chance to sample their craft bar downstairs.  gourmet magazine raves about their “encyclopedic drink menu”, and their roasted brussel sprouts are to die for (complete with bacon love and more butter than you can shake a stick at). as for the fernet, i left it to bartender’s choice, and miles (of scrappy’s bitters notoriety) designed a drink that would make johnny appleseed grapple out of his grave to taste.  oh, and did i mention the complimentary shots?  i’ll repay the favour soon enough.

miles to go before i sleep
